Virginia House of Delegates has been ruled by Republicans for 20 years now. After a long, long wait, Democrats have pulled off a significant win in the Virginia State General Assembly elections. A blue wave has been spread across the state capital in Richmond with their victory. Democrats won both the state House and state Senate which will ensure they have the majority in both legislative chambers. With this win, Republicans wait to win a national political office since 2009 continues. In the run-up to the 2020 US elections, the present win will boost Democrats and their confidence.
Former Vice President Joe Biden, who also happens to be the front-runner for the 2020 US elections, has congratulated Democrats in a statement from his official Twitter handle. Here’s the statement:
“I want to congratulate the newly elected and re-elected delegates and senators on their victories. Tonight, by voting in Democratic majorities in both chambers of the General Assembly, Virginians sent a clear, powerful message that will resonate across this nation and shake the walls of the White House.
Virginians were not fooled by Republicans who spent the campaign pretending they are moderate, pretending they are for health care, pretending they are for sensible gun regulations, and pretending they don’t even know who Donald Trump is.
Voters are tired of Republicans putting their own political agenda ahead of their constituents’ needs and are ready for representatives who fought for them. Tonight’s results show that Democrats can take back our country, starting with Virginia, and begin the hard work of rebuilding the middle class and restoring the soul of our nation.”
