President Trump signals to fire Dr. Fauci after Election Day!!

The coronavirus pandemic has been an enormous headache for President Trump and his administration right from the start of 2020. On multiple occasions, officials from his administration contradicted his statements during the coronavirus White House press briefings. The country’s top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, was one of the health experts who differed the most with Trump’s comments all through the pandemic. Fauci didn’t hold himself back from calling a spade a spade, even if it is against President Trump’s statements. This has irked Trump and his team affecting his reelection campaign. On Monday morning, Trump signaled that he might fire Dr. Fauci after Election Day.

The decision came after his midnight campaign rally in Opa-Locka, Florida, where he claimed that the United States was rounding the turn in its fight to tackle the coronavirus. Trump’s comments come strangely at a time when the country is witnessing new records in terms of positive cases. Trump is also unhappy with the overly focused coverage of the pandemic by the media. He said - “you turn on the news, ‘Covid, Covid, Covid, Covid, Covid. Come November 4th, and you won’t hear too much about it.” The above comments were followed by constant shouts of “fire Fauci” from his supporters, for which the president paused for a bit and responded, “Ooh, Don’t tell anybody, but let me wait till a little bit after the election,” as a new round of cheers started. This wasn’t a sudden indication by Trump to oust Fauci; he has intensified attacks from the final few months of the election campaign.

Speaking about Fauci, Trump said - “Every time he goes on television, there’s always a bomb. But there’s a bigger bomb if you fire him,” in his heated call with his campaign staff last month. Trump is still downplaying the threats of the virus, even though 234,000 Americans lost their lives. Precautionary measures like social distancing and masks are gone for a toss wherever he holds a rally. Trump constantly reminds his supporters that the new spike in cases is due to increased testing capacities. However, his own official Admiral Brett Giroir has debunked the claim by the president.
