Former Vice President Joe Biden is getting stronger with every passing day in his run for the presidential elections. Biden recently received endorsements from Democrat Colin Allred and four other black lawmakers. The latest addition to the list is Iowa Rep. Cindy Axne. Biden has earned Axne’s endorsement at a critical time as the state’s caucuses are just under nine days. Cindy Axne is a first-term congresswoman who was one of the two Iowa Democrats to turn over a Republican-held district in 2018. Districts like hers could be potentially critical in maintaining the Democratic majority in the upcoming elections in November 2020.
In a statement, Axne said - “I believe we need a Democratic nominee who not only has the vision to rebuild our alliances and strengthen our middle class but who can win in November - which is why I’m proud to endorse Joe Biden for President.” Additionally, as per the Biden campaign’s Iowa spokeswoman, Axne is all set to attend the Ankeny event in Iowa with Joe Biden. With this endorsement, Joe Biden now has the support of two Iowa’s Democratic congress members of the three. Representative Abby Finkenauer of Iowa recently won the 2018 midterm elections thereby turning the red district to blue. After the win, she announced her endorsement for the former Vice President earlier this month. The third Democratic member of Iowa, Rep. Dave Loebsack is supporting Pete Buttigieg, the 32nd Mayor of South Bend, Indiana. Two former governors of Iowa Chet Culver and Tom Vilsack are also supporting Joe Biden.
