With the 2020 general elections just months away, former Vice President Joe Biden is strengthening his campaign by gaining support from various parts of the country and the leaders of global organizations. The new addition to this list is the former European Council President Donald Tusk. On Thursday, Donald Tusk took Twitter to announce his support to the Democratic presumptive nominee. He said, "I've always believed in the ideals of Republicans and the greatness of America. But presently, I pray for @JoeBiden's success." Tusk also explained why he supported the Democrat, "as the Polish Prime Minister and as EU President, Reagan was my hero. Also, I got to know @realDonaldTrump really well."
Former Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk has a history of targeting Trump and taking digs at him. During his speech in September 2019 at the UN General Assembly, Tusk said - "To protect the truth, it is not enough to accuse others of promoting fake news. To be frank, it would be enough to simply stop lying," without taking the president's name. Another instance was during the NATO summit in London. A couple of weeks after the UN General Assembly, Tusk tweeted a photograph of him holding two fingers against the back of Trump depicting it as a gun with a caption - "Despite seasonal turbulences, our transatlantic friendship must last #Trump #NATO." Even in his tweet supporting Biden, Tusk paid tributes to former US president Ronald Reagan who belonged to the same party as President Trump.Dr. Dhillon Randeep
