FBI Director Christopher Wray made controversial statements about Russia's interference in the US presidential election, scheduled to take place in November. On Thursday, Wray said that Russia is making very active efforts to interfere in the 2020 election with a primary goal to damage the campaign of former vice president Joe Biden. Wray said - "Russians are actively using the popular social media networks as well as proxies, state media, online journals, and other vehicles to cause harm to Biden's campaign." His assessments confirm the findings from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence publicly. Andriy Derkach, a pro-Russian Ukrainian lawmaker, identified the threat to Biden's campaign from the Russians.
In his testimony to the House Homeland Security Committee, Wray confirmed Russia's active role in the 2020 campaign with the elections just under 50 days to go. Although Wray didn't offer any new insights into the hearing, he confirmed that the intelligence agencies have no evidence that Russian counterparts are repeating their 2016 attempt to influence the voter databases and target other election infrastructure. Wray also contradicted Trump's claim that "Antifa" is a terrorist organization. He explained, "Antifa is more of an ideological movement than an organization, even though there have been violent protests by some of the self-identified members of Antifa." Wray continued, "Antifa is a real thing. But it's not an organization or a structure."
