Former National Security Advisor and the Secretary of State Colin Powell is backing Joe Biden to be the next President of the United States. Worked with multiple Presidents in his career, Powell knows every crucial detail about the political scenario in the United States. Speaking to Jake Tapper on his Sunday morning show 'State of the Union,' Powell said - "I've been very close to former vice president, Joe Biden in social and political matters. I've worked with him for 35 to 40 years in my life, and I know how hard he works for the people of America. As he won the nomination officially, he will be my President pick for the United States, and I will be voting for Biden in November."
Powell donned multiple hats in his long career for the betterment of the country. He worked as the secretary of State under President George Bush's administration. Although Powell announced his support for Biden, he hasn't planned to make any campaign appearances alongside the Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. "Presently, I haven't been asked to join the campaign trail with Biden, and I don't think I will be. Participating in campaign events is not my cup of tea. I'll be speaking for him, but I don't have any plans to participate in his campaign events," Powell added in his interview. Apart from the support to Joe Biden, Powell blasted President Trump for his actions for most of the interview. He questioned President Trump's character and accused him of lowering America's standards in the eyes of the world. Powell continued, " Our country has a constitution, and we all have to follow the constitution no matter who becomes the President. But Trump has drifted away from it."
Powell's strong comments irked President Trump as he took Twitter to question the former NSA. Trump posted, "Colin Powell, a real stiff who was very responsible for getting us into the disastrous Middle East Wars, just announced he would be voting for another stiff, Sleepy Joe Biden. Didn't Powell say that Iraq had "weapons of mass destruction?" They didn't, but off we went to WAR!" This is not the first instance Powell had supported a Democratic candidate despite being worked for George Bush, who is a Republican. He also endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2016.Dr. Dhillon Randeep
