Former Vice President Joe Biden confirmed that he is going to select a female candidate as his running mate if he becomes the Presidential nominee of the Democratic party. Biden even went ahead and had discussions with his former competitors Elizabeth Warren, Tulasi Gabbard, Kamala Harris, etc. On Friday evening, Biden disclosed that he spoke with his Democratic rival Bernie Sanders that he is going ahead in selecting the cabinet and Vice Presidential picks as the race for the White House is getting closer.
At a virtual fundraising event, Biden told that his campaign is planning to unveil a committee to select the potential Vice Presidential candidates sometime in the middle of the month. He also said he discussed the matter with others about possible cabinet positions. “One of the best things I learned a long time ago, and I really mean it is, a good leader has to be willing to have people who are smarter than them, know more about a subject, bring in people who in fact have an expertise that the leader may not have. So, I’m in the process, and I had this discussion with Bernie Sanders. Bernie is a friend, a very good friend. We are competitors. I don’t want him to think I’m presumptuous. The choosing of presidential candidates takes a lot of time and effort, and it requires background checks,” said Biden.
Interestingly, this is also the first time Biden has disclosed about holding a private conversation with Sanders since the Democratic primary became the two-person race between Biden and Sanders. Biden also said that he took advice from former President Barack Obama on the process of cabinet picks.
