Former Vice President Joe Biden slammed Trump for the fresh attacks on him from the president. Trump called the Democratic presidential nominee as a person against the Bible and asserted that he would "hurt God" if elected as the next president of the United States. Joe Biden defended his faith and trust in God while terming the president's comments as "beneath the office he holds." He said in a statement - "Like many other people, my faith has been the foundation of my life. So far, it has provided me utmost comfort in moments of tragedy and loss. It has kept me grounded and humbled in my happiness and success."
Biden is a devout Catholic and has recited Scripture in his 2020 campaign trail. He is known to carry rosary beads in his pocket right through his life. He further added, "in this moment of crisis in the country with pain and sickness for millions of Americans - my faith has been a guiding light for me and a constant reminder of the fundamental dignity and humanity bestowed upon us by God." Additionally, Biden uses the phrase "faith sees best in the dark," quite often in public remarks, which is a quote by Danish philosopher and theologian Søren Kierkegaard. Former Vice President has also spoken and written on record explaining how his faith has helped him grieve the deaths of his wife and 1-year old daughter who passed away in a car accident five decades ago, as well as the death of his son Beau due to brain cancer in 2015.
Earlier on Thursday, in a radio interview with Geraldo Rivera, Trump made offensive comments on Biden - "He is against the Bible. Essentially against religion and the Bible." Trump continued to repeat his claims while addressing his supporters in Cleveland as well. "Biden is following the radical left agenda. Take away your guns, destroy your Second Amendment. No religion, no anything. Hurt the Bible, hurt God. He's against God," Trump said, amplifying his remarks. Biden shot back at Trump late Thursday, calling his comments "shameful" and "beneath the dignity the American people expect and deserve from their leaders serving the highest office." He concluded - "Trump is a person who can stoop to any low for political gain, and he is someone whose actions are completely against the odds with our values and teachings he claims to believe in."Dr. Dhillon Randeep
