House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been critical of President Donald Trump on multiple occasions, including the period during his impeachment process. In the latest development, Pelosi attacked Trump for not taking the coronavirus pandemic seriously. Speaking to host Jake Tapper on CNN’s ‘State of the Union,’ Nancy Pelosi said - “President Trump has not acted seriously from day one even though he knew about the coronavirus crisis and still he hasn’t done enough. As President fiddles, people are dying in America.”
She further continued - “Trump’s denial at the beginning was deadly. His delay in getting medical equipment to the places it needed was deadly. Currently, the best thing I can think of would be to prevent any additional loss of lives, rather than opening the business up for the people.” She also pointed out that the federal government is still way behind in procuring the necessary testing kits and medical equipment to the places they are needed. She suggested that the only way forward is to test as many people as possible. “This coronavirus outbreak is such a tragedy. Trump’s administration has no clue about the magnitude of it because we don’t have adequate testing,” she said.
Nancy Pelosi didn’t stop with that; she also attacked Trump for signing a statement that would limit oversight over a $2.2 trillion emergency relief package. Speaking on the issue, Pelosi added - “We don’t accept that. We will have our oversight. It’s just the same business as usual for the President. When he was signing the bill, he said, just 20 days ago, everything was great and under control. But it’s not great, not everything was great. At that time, we had nearly 500 cases and 17 deaths, but in those 20 days, because we were underprepared, we now have over 2,000 deaths and 100 thousand cases, the most by any country in the world.”
