House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been opposing President Donald Trump for a long time now. She was one of the key reasons to implement an impeachment trial against the President. On Sunday, Nancy Pelosi targeted Trump again for being obliged to the Russian government, which was reported in the New York Times. The report stated that Russia has secretly offered cash rewards to Taliban fighters to kill the US army personnel posted in Afghanistan. "I have no idea what's the equation the President has with the Russians. It may be a personal, financial, or political one for the President. For Donald Trump, all roads lead to Putin," Pelosi said.
Pelosi, who hails from California, usually gets her intelligence briefings as a part of her work. She said she had no clue about the situation and asked the Congress to submit a report. "The news report is as bad as it gets, but the President is not going to confront the Russians in this issue," As per the report published in the New York Times on Friday, the bounties were offered to stop the long-running war in Afghanistan. The report also mentions that the intelligence briefed US officials and the President on the issue, but no action was initiated either by the President or the White House National Security Council. Senators from both parties have requested the Trump administration to clarify the national security issue. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said that he wants the administration to take all these allegations seriously and give out the factual details. Democratic Senator Bob Menendez suggested that the Senate should go for voting on the new sanctions against Russia.
A day after the report became viral across the country, the White House issued a cautious response as a damage control measure. The response said that neither the President nor the Vice President was aware of the alleged intelligence information. The White House press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, said - "This does not speak to the merit of the alleged intelligence." Another day after the White House response, President Donald Trump broke his silence on the issue. He reiterated that Pence and himself were not briefed about any intelligence and targeted the New York Times' anonymous source, labeling it as the "Fake News" outlet one more time. Trump further tweeted, "Nobody's been tougher on Russia than the Trump Administration. With Corrupt Joe Biden & Obama, Russia had a field day, taking over important parts of Ukraine - Where's Hunter? Probably just another phony Times hit job, just like their failed Russia Hoax. Who is their "source"?

Nobody briefed or told me, @VP Pence, or Chief of Staff @MarkMeadows about the so-called attacks on our troops in Afghanistan by Russians, as reported through an “anonymous source” by the Fake News @nytimes. Everybody is denying it & there have not been many attacks on us.....— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 28, 2020
