President Donald Trump Is Impeached!!

It has been a pretty stressful month for Donald Trump. Adding to his vows, the House of Representatives voted in favor of his impeachment today. With this impeachment, Donald Trump is now a part of history books of American politics. Trump is only the third President of the United States in 240 years of US history to be impeached, a record he would never want to be associated with.

The voting took place on Wednesday night led by Democrats. As many believe, the impeachment is to protect the Constitution and uphold the nation’s interests. Trump has termed the exercise as a sham, hoax or witch hunt in his tweets. President Donald Trump was accused of two articles.

1. Abuse of power, for asking Ukraine to start investigations against former Vice President Joe Biden. Interestingly, Biden is also a popular contender 2020 US elections.

2. Accused of obstructing Congress from investigating his case.

The House of Representatives has a majority of Democrats. They voted mostly on the party line with 230 - 197 votes against Trump on first article abuse of power. The House then went on to vote against the second article abuse of obstructing Congress with 229 - 198 votes. Trump holds a rather embarrassing record even in the votes polled against him. Trump is the only President to receive as many as 229 and 230 votes against him in an impeachment process. The other two Presidents who were impeached by the House are Bill Clinton and Andrew Johnson. However, they didn't leave the office. President Donald is also hopeful of repeating the same.
