President Donald Trump was impeached last week in the House of Representatives based on two charges. Democrats hold a majority in the House of Representatives, and it was sure that Trump would be voted against by the Dems. The charges include abuse of power of office for engaging with a foreign nation and obstructing Congress to investigate his case. Trump has received the highest number of votes against him in the history of US Presidential impeachments. Also, Trump became the third President of the USA to be impeached in the House of Representatives.
On Saturday, President Trump slammed the Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, for holding the articles of impeachment that are to be sent to Senate, thereby delaying the process. Republicans hold a majority in the Senate, and this is the reason Trump is confident that he will not be convicted in the impeachment process. During his speech to conservative student group Turning Point USA, Trump said - “It’s so unfair that Pelosi adopted the strategy to delay the impeachment process because she has no case. They are violating the Constitution.” Trump also went to call the Speaker as “crazy Nancy.”
Speaker Nancy might be holding the impeachment articles for quite some reasons. One is to increase pressure on Republicans in the Senate. She is also yet to announce the names on who will present evidence during the trial in the Senate. However, Pelosi’s office released a statement on Saturday, which says - “Until the House gets a clear idea of what a Senate trial will look like, the Speaker will not be able to appoint managers and proceed with the next steps as per the constitution.”
Pelosi gives us the most unfair trial in the history of the U.S. Congress, and now she is crying for fairness in the Senate, and breaking all rules while doing so. She lost Congress once, she will do it again!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 23, 2019
