The coronavirus pandemic destroyed the economy and led to millions of Americans' job losses due to the lockdown measures. After easing the lockdown precautions, many expected the situation to be normal. But the reality is quite different as the unemployment rate is still increasing rapidly. As per the report released by the Department of Labor on Thursday, another 1.5 million Americans filed for their first-time unemployment benefits. The highest peak was at 6.9 million registered in the last week of March. Although the present number isn't the highest, the rate at which millions of Americans lose their jobs is still a concern.
Since March, a whopping total of 44 million Americans lost their employment and filed for the first unemployment benefits as the coronavirus spread across the country. Most of the people who lost their valuable jobs are still living on government aid, and thousands of them are eagerly waiting for financial aid. Reacting to the news about the rising unemployment, former Vice President Biden took Twitter to express his opinion. He posted, "While the president was spiking the football and taking a victory lap, another 1.5 million Americans filed new unemployment claims last week. He is completely oblivious to what's happening in this country — and hard-working Americans are paying the price."Dr. Dhillon Randeep
